[Zhongyuan Economic Network News] The national on-site observation meeting and annual summary conference for the large-scale lifting machinery installation safety monitoring and management system was recently held in our city. During the meeting, it was emphasized that efforts should be vigorously accelerated to promote the implementation of the safety monitoring and management system for large lifting machinery installations. By the end of 2015, all large lifting machines mandated by national regulations must be equipped with this system; those that fail to install or retrofit the system will be prohibited from operation.
It is reported that installing safety monitoring systems on large lifting machinery aims to enable remote surveillance, trigger critical-incident alerts, provide real-time on-site displays, and ensure data is recorded and stored—thereby promoting standardization and regularization of site operations and helping prevent catastrophic accidents such as crane collapses. According to available information, our province produces up to 200,000 sets of lifting equipment annually. Notably, the production and sales of bridge cranes, gantry cranes, jib cranes, electric hoists, and construction elevators have ranked first in China for six consecutive years, making our province the country’s largest manufacturing hub for bridge and gantry cranes. Currently, all newly manufactured large-scale lifting machines in the province are equipped with advanced safety monitoring management systems, while over 30% of existing large cranes already have these systems installed. As a result, there have been no major incidents involving significant casualties among workers associated with lifting machinery in the past two years.
By the end of 2015, all large lifting machinery listed in the standard catalog requiring the installation of safety monitoring and management systems must be equipped with such systems. Machines that fail to install or retrofit these systems will be prohibited from use, and any violations will be rigorously investigated and addressed. (Zhengzhou Daily, Reporter Song Jianqiao)
