It is one of the two primary components of forging-pressing processes—alongside stamping. Forging effectively eliminates defects such as casting porosity that often arise during metal smelting, thereby refining the material’s microstructure in the process. Moreover, since forging preserves the integrity of the metal’s flow lines, forged parts typically exhibit superior mechanical performance compared to cast parts made from the same material. As a result, critical components in machinery subjected to high loads under demanding operating conditions are predominantly manufactured using forgings—except for those with simpler geometries, which can be produced more efficiently through rolled sheets, profiles, or welded assemblies.
