Lifting machinery can be classified into categories such as lightweight and compact lifting equipment, bridge cranes, jib cranes, and elevators, among others.
1. Lightweight and Compact Lifting Equipment
Lightweight and compact lifting equipment is characterized by its portability, compact design, simple operation, and limited working range. Typically, such equipment features only a single lifting mechanism, enabling the load to perform only a straightforward up-and-down motion. Examples of this type of lifting device include: KBK Cranes, manual (air-powered, electric) hoists, jacks, winches, and more.
2. Bridge crane
Bridge cranes are characterized by their ability to lift and move heavy loads—whether suspended from a hook or other lifting device—vertically or horizontally through space. A bridge crane consists of a lifting mechanism and mechanisms that drive the trolley and the main carriage. Through the coordinated actions of these components, heavy objects can be lifted and transported within a defined cubic workspace. Common examples of this type of crane include bridge cranes and gantry cranes.
The characteristics of a jib crane are basically the same as those of an overhead crane.
An articulated crane consists of: a lifting mechanism, a luffing mechanism, and a slewing mechanism. By coordinating the actions of these mechanisms, it can lift and move heavy loads within a defined cylindrical space. Articulated cranes are often mounted on vehicles or other types of transport equipment, creating what’s known as a mobile articulated crane. Examples of this category include column-mounted jib cranes, mobile jib cranes, wall-mounted jib cranes, truck-mounted cranes, tire-mounted cranes, and rail-mounted cranes, among others.
4. Elevator
Elevators are characterized by the fact that heavy loads or lifting devices can only move vertically along guide rails. While an elevator typically has just one lifting mechanism, it also incorporates numerous other auxiliary components, which is why it’s categorized separately—it includes elevators for passengers, freight lifts, and platform lifts, among others.
