Precautions for the Break-In Period of New Starter Hoists

Release time:2020-02-13

Proper break-in of a new crane or hoist is a critical phase in ensuring the long-term, safe operation of the equipment. During this period, the surfaces of all moving components are fully conditioned, which helps extend the lifespan of the truck crane chassis. Therefore, it’s essential to carefully carry out the break-in process for new vehicles, making sure the vehicle is already in proper working condition before starting.

Break-in precautions:

1. The break-in mileage for the new car is 2,000 km;

2. The wheel nuts must be tightened to the specified torque during the initial 50 km of driving and after each wheel change.

3. Check the tightness of bolts and nuts on all components, especially the cylinder head bolts. When the vehicle has traveled 300 km, tighten the cylinder head nuts in the prescribed sequence while the engine is still hot.

4. During the break-in period, within the first 2000 km, speed limits for each gear are as follows: 1st gear: 5 km/h; 2nd gear: 5 km/h; 3rd gear: 10 km/h; 4th gear: 15 km/h; 5th gear: 25 km/h; 6th gear: 35 km/h; 7th gear: 50 km/h; 8th gear: 60 km/h.

5. After starting a cold engine, avoid immediately stepping on the gas—only increase engine RPM once it has reached normal operating temperature.

6. The break-in period should be conducted on smooth, well-maintained road surfaces;

7. Shift gears promptly and smoothly engage the clutch, avoiding sudden acceleration and emergency braking.

8. Shift into a lower gear promptly before climbing uphill, and avoid letting the engine operate at excessively low RPMs. Regularly check and monitor the engine’s oil pressure and ensure the coolant maintains its proper temperature. Also, keep an eye on the temperatures of the transmission, rear axle, wheel hubs, and brake drums—if any component shows excessive heat, identify the cause immediately and make adjustments or repairs as needed.

9. After the break-in period is complete, a comprehensive mandatory maintenance check should be performed on the truck crane chassis. Please have this mandatory maintenance carried out at the company’s designated service station.
